REVIEW: The Bachelor 2019 - Peter Weber

I, like thousands of American women, watch The Bachelor reality show.  I don't know why I do it, but I do.  It's one of those "guilty pleasures" that we so often indulge in.  Thirty women, most in their early to mid-twenties, vie for the love of The Bachelor.  The Bachelor is sometimes chosen because they are apart of the ABC Network "bachelor family" or because they have qualities that seem to make America want to watch them find love.  Not to mention, most of them are handsome, if not in appearance alone.

I thought of diving into an explanation of the show and the history that it has (it's been around since 2002) but instead, I just want to give my opinion on this last season of the Bachelor.

I didn't like Peter Weber! I don't know if it is because I am older now, old enough to be his mother, but I just did not feel that the guy was "marriage" material.  Sure, he is a pilot, cool.  But the 28-year old still lives with Mommy & Daddy, doesn't seem to think with anything other than his "manhood" and didn't display one ounce of maturity throughout the season.  I'm sure he is a nice guy and all, but, in my opinion, he did not make for a very good Bachelor.  And don't get me started on the continuous interruptions in the season from his annoying Mom - definitely a "mama's boy".

On another note, I hear The Bachelor franchise is thinking of making a season with an "older" Bachelor (65+).  That would be great - as long as they have equally aged contestants.  However, most men that age want younger women (at least to become their second wives).  For marriage number 3, they will settle for someone their age - right? (tongue-in-cheek)

Movie Review: Before We Go

Adventures In Babysitting meets a love story...

Something told me, on this lazy Sunday, to see this movie.  While feeling down and blue and totally against love, you can imagine that a romance was the last thing I felt like seeing - but I couldn't stop myself.

I purchased the movie for $5.99 "On Demand" when I could have gotten dressed, got in the car, and picked it up from Redbox for $1.99.  Instead, I dragged myself out of bed, down the stairs, and hit a few buttons on the remote, cuddled up on the couch, and watched the movie.

So glad I did!  I really liked this movie and I LOVE Chris Evans.  It took awhile to get used to his "Movember" beard, but he can't help be adorable.  I secretly wished for someone to look at me the way he looked at this girl in the movie.  And the way he went out of his way to be her knight-in-shining-armor was heroic.  The girl, I did not recognize, and at first, I had decided I was not going to like her.  However, ten minutes in, I had changed my mind.  The two actors where great together and their characters shared some pretty life changing thoughts and decisions throughout the 8 hours they were together.

The ending was one which I love to hate.  I won't give away any spoilers, but let's just say, I would be happy to have such a wonderful experience as they had and to meet someone with whom I could have such a fun/loving connection with.  Nowadays, romance is gone and replaced with hook-up apps, text messages and ghosting.

Here's to fairy-tales and holding out for the magic....

Repost: The VOW

I thought it fitting to repost this review from 2012 since I am watching the movie again, for the second time, years later.  Sadly, life does not seem to follow the movies and the guy does not always fight for the girl....

What a good movie this was!

I had been looking forward to seeing this.  Not only because of the beautiful and great actors in the movie (Racheal McAdams & Channing Tatum) but because it was a love story.  Who DOESN'T love a good romance???

Boy meets girl.  Boy and girl fall in love.  They get married and have many good times and memories.  Boy shows his love for girl through out the movie and makes YOU fall in love with him (not to mention the nude scene - wink/wink).  Boy and girl get in a car accident.  Girl suffers memory loss of her last 5 years of being married to boy.  Next comes all of the laughter, tears, heartbreak, disappointment and so on when the two try to get back what they lost.

I give it a 4.5 stars!!! Go see it with someone you love.

Trending Today: Courteney Cox

I opened Yahoo tonight and looked at what was trending, to get inspiration on what to write about.  Low and behold, a celebrity was on the list (actually, eight of them).  So, I picked one and decided to give you Ten Things You Did Not Know About Courteney Cox (information obtained by Yahoo and Wikipedia):

1. Courteney was born: Courteney Bass Cox (she was named after her Mother whose first name is Courteney and her last name was Bass before she re-married)
2. She owns a production company named: Coquette Productions (I figure this is short for her's and David Arquette's names put together).
3. In 2005, she was one of the highest paid TV actresses of all time.
4. She once dated her Step-Father's nephew, rock promoter, Ian Copeland.
5. Courteney and David separated for two years before finally divorcing in 2013.
6. She is not only an actress, but she is a director and a producer.
7. Her show, DIRT, last for two seasons (this was one of my favorite shows).
8. Courteney is from Alabama.
9. She had plans of becoming an Architect, but dropped her college classes to become and actress and model.
10. She was born in 1964. (she looks amazing for 51)

When Did She Get a Tattoo?

I read an article today about an artist named Cheyenne Randall.  Cheyenne is a Seattle artist who has creatively taken photos of celebrities and Photoshopped tattoos onto them (like this one above of 1950's sex symbol, Marilyn Monroe).

Other photos can be seen on a Tumbler page called SHOPPED TATTOOS http://shoppedtattoos.tumblr.com/

The Kardashians Meet Oprah

What?  You don't know who the Kardashians are?  You must be living under a rock.

For those of you who do, I thought I would take a minute and write about the recent interview that Oprah Winfrey had with the "famous" (believe it or not, they don't like to be referred as famous) family.

On the OWN channel, Oprah recently visited the Kardashian/Jenner home for a big "production" interview.  They showed some behind the scenes preparation and the family actually seemed excited to meet Oprah.  It's hard for me to believe that this was supposed to be the first time they all ever met.  Hollywood is not that big that these people haven't ran into each other at least once before.

The interviews take place over a couple different episodes of the show, the first has already been aired and the other will be following soon.

In the first show, Oprah interviewed all of the Kardashian siblings: Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, and Robert.  She asked them about their lives and how they felt about being in the spotlight and asked them how they felt being managed by their mom.  There were many times that Oprah asked questions she felt America was wanting to know such as, "Do you feel your mom is "pimping" you out?"  "Are you famous for being famous", etc.  These questions seem to irritate the family just a little bit.

Next, Oprah interviewed momma Kardashian, Kris Jenner.  This interview seemed really uncomfortable and was staged around the kitchen table, with baskets of lemons and limes bringing more life to the scene than the actual interview.  I did notice that in all of the interviews, the family had much more to say and they were cut off by Oprah, I mean, after all, they only had so much time and have to edit the stuff that's not so important.

Last, Kim Kardashian was interviewed.  I must say, Kim knows how to interview.  She answered everything very well and seemed "well rehearsed" with her come-backs.  I am not doubting her sincerity, I really believe that Kim is just a normal human being living in and craving the limelight.  She was asked about her infamous "sex tape" and her second, short-lived marriage and how she felt about them.  Her answers to those questions made me think that maybe the Kardashians are more down-to-earth than I had believed.

I will continue to watch all of the Kardashian series of TV shows and I will definitely not miss Oprah's second interview with the family.  I might even read Kris's book, sounds like it might be pretty juicy.

R.I.P. Ben Breedlove

R.I.P. Ben Breedlove

My 14-year old daughter follows many film makers on Youtube.com.  One of her favorites, Ben Breedlove, passed away recently.  My daughter was very sad and his videos went viral after his passing.  I was not familiar with him until I watched his last two videos and when I did, I was touched by this young man's courage.  I am attaching the videos from Youtube.com.

Movie Review: The Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Part 1

Who hasn't seen this movie yet?  Although I did not hang out in two to three day lines to see this movie on opening day, I did see it opening weekend.  My daughter and I have a standing "date" whenever the Twilight movies come out.  I thought it crazy that someone would camp-out in line just to be one of the first to see a movie.  The movie WILL be the same whether you are the first or the last to see it.  I was hoping that by going to a 10:45 PM showing the second night out it would not be as busy, but the theater was packed!

This fourth installment of the Twilight series is actually a two-parter.  First there was Twilight, then New Moon, and then EclipseBreaking Dawn is part one of two.  The second part will hopefully come out next year at this time.  Breaking Dawn is the last book about the "Twilight" crew written by Stephenie Meyer.  Interesting fact: Stephenie wrote a draft story, which was illegally leaked to the public, called Midnight Sun.  This story is from Edward's perspective.  Who knows, maybe the Twilight series will take a whole new turn when all is said and done.  I know that readers and viewers would be excited to see more about the characters that they have grown to love (and hate).

The movie was good.  It was very serious in many parts and seemed a bit slow.  The movie experience always varies based on the audience you are seeing it with.  Ours seemed to be a bunch of younger people (go figure) and the giggling teens seemed to be talking and laughing in some parts that just did not seem necessary.  It made my viewing somewhat of a negative experience.  However, I know that should not effect my opinion of the movie, but because of this, it made the movie seem slow and drawn out.

Here is a spoiler of the movie (don't read if you don't want to know): Bella and Edward have their "worries" prior to their wedding.  Jacob gets an invitation to their wedding and storms off into hiding.  Edward and Bella have a beautiful ceremony (outdoors - weeping willow trees are strategically placed to keep the sunlight from being too strong).   Jacob misses the wedding but he does, however, make an appearance at the reception.  The closeness that he and Bella have during their dance allows the viewer to see the love that they both share, even though she just married Edward.

It is decided that they will consummate their wedding before Bella is turned.  This seems to be a big topic of discussion among the Quileute tribe.  They are not happy about this and Jacob lets everyone know.  Personally, I would be embarrassed if everyone knew I was getting ready to finally have sex with my boyfriend for the first time.  But, it was all anyone talked about in this part of the movie.

The honeymoon is taken on a beautiful, secluded island.  Bella and Edward are nervous for their night of passion and the next morning it appears they had a rough previous night.  But, everyone survived and the couple seemed more in love than ever.  They spent time frolicking and enjoying one another's company as they played Chess, swam, made love, etc.

It appears that several days pass when Bella realizes she has missed her period.  She immediately feels like she is pregnant and begins the appearance of being pregnant.  They fear that the baby will be a demon and this is confirmed by an Indian woman on the island.  Bella and Edward rush home to be with the Cullens.  As Bella's pregnancy continues at a fast pace, she begins to love the baby as it is quickly ruining her health.  Her appearance starts to wither and her cheeks become hollow.  She really looks horrible.  The family feels that they should terminate the baby, but Bella insists on delivering.  In the meantime, the Quileute tribe finds out she is having a demon baby and they decide they must kill it and possibly Bella.  Jacob turns against the tribe (with some help from two of his tribe mates) and attempts to save the unborn baby.

Bella goes into labor and as the baby is born, they realize it is a healthy, baby girl.  Unfortunately, Bella seems to be slipping away and as she is going, Edward begins trying to "change" her by biting her all over.  It appears that Bella is gone.

Jacob realizes that the baby will soon be killed, because he cannot save her from his tribe.  He goes into the house and sees the baby, who they named, Renesmee, all cleaned up and in the arms of Rosalie. Renesmee and Jacob's eyes lock and at that moment he "imprints" on her.  Visions of Renesmee growing up to be a beautiful woman play and at that moment Jacob knows that he will spend his life protecting her and he knows the feeling of "imprinting" someone.  Because of this action, his tribe can not ever harm Renesmee.

There are some fight scenes that I have left out between the tribe and the Cullens, you will have to watch them, they are pretty good.

Finally, the movie ends with Bella on the table, obviously dead.  After moments pass, she suddenly opens her eyes and they are blood red!  (end movie)

Okay, now you know how I felt about the movie.  What did you think of The Twighlight Saga Breaking Dawn Part 1?

Movie Review: Paranormal Activity 3

No folks, this movie is NOT real!!!! I know, it seems like it might be, but it's not.  My 14-year old daughter begs to differ though.  I had to assure her it wasn't and explained that I have even seen some of the actors in other things, i.e. Lauren Bittner (Julie) was in Bride Wars and Law & Order.  Chloe Csengery (Young Katie) is in the series Up All Night.  The cast is full of un-famous actors and actresses.  But, they do play their parts well and that's what makes this movie believable to many.

This third installment of the series was definitely the best yet.  I remember seeing the first one at the theater and walking out half way through.  It was terrible and not scary at all.  I later saw the second one and thought it was a little better and that maybe I should watch the first one again.

Unlike most sequels/prequels in Hollywood, the third Paranormal Activity was the best.  It had lots of "jump out and get ya" moments that we all expect and love from a scary movie.  The fact that it appears to be reality makes it even more scary.

I did find it hard to keep track of what was going on at the beginning of the movie. This was one of those "prequels" that shows you the beginning of a series after you have already watched the ending.  My mind is just too analytical to allow them to completely make sense.  I am always second guessing things and questioning events.

Overall, this movie was worth the $10 I paid (actually, I paid $30 because I took my daughter and her friend).  *Wow, movies are expensive - sigh!* Because we saw it in a theater, we got to experience the crowd reaction at all the right moments.  I imagine you could have an eventful viewing at home and perhaps be prepared for those scary moments by really scaring someone who hasn't seen it yet - lol.

What did you think?

Movie Review - Horrible Bosses

My fourteen-year old daughter and I decided to go see "Horrible Bosses" this weekend.  Since viewing the movie trailers for the last couple of months, I was really excited to see this movie.  The cast, the previews and the story line all appealed to me.  But, leave it to Hollywood to ruin yet another movie by showing too many good parts in their trailer.  I guess I should not use the word "ruin".  This is harsh.  The movie was still funny, entertaining and I am glad I went.  However, I found that all the really funny parts were shown in the previews.

I was a little worried that my daughter may see and hear too much adult "stuff" but I did not find it to be any more embarrassing than watching some television shows with her.  Other than Jennifer Aniston showing some cleavage and wearing lingerie, there was no nudity.

The cast was great!  Justin Bateman, as always, does a great job at playing the "uptight" friend.  Charlie Day stole the show as the "sex offender" who got his title because he urinated, at night, in a playground, next to a bar.  Through the movie, there are several references to this and I feel he was surprisingly funny, for an actor that I had not seen before.   Jason Sudeikis was funny, but I had a hard time believing that he was such the "ladies man" they made him out to be.  Jennifer Aniston, Kevin Spacey and Colin Ferrel were the "Horrible Bosses" and were so believable, I wanted to kill them!  It was awesome seeing hunky Colin Ferrel in such a nerdy role.  Jennifer was such a man-eater and Mr. Spacey always does a good job in whatever he does.  I must also mention Jamie Foxx as Mr. Motherf..... .  He was so funny as the original hitman they hired to wack the bosses.

Overall, this movie is funny and worth seeing.  What did you think?

Does Russell Crowe Have A Son He Forgot To Tell Us About?

I used to watch the OC and now I watch Benjamin McKenzie in Southland. Today, I saw Russell Crowe in Robinhood and could not believe how much these two guys look alike. I came home and did a Google search to see if I was the only one who thought so and to my surprise, I found this link that had a picture of the two of them. Does Russell have a son he is not telling us about?

Movie Review: The House Bunny

I admit it, I rented this movie over the holidays. I really didn't expect a lot from this movie and this was a good thing, since there was not much to it.

Story: It's the story of a beautiful Playboy Bunny (Shelly), who lives at the Playboy Mansion, but has never been a centerfold. She becomes homeless and stubbles upon a sorority house and talks the girls into allowing her to be their house mom. The house is filled with misfits and losers who are about to lose their charter and their house. With Shelly's help, the girls throw a killer party, get make-overs and become popular. Shelly tries to win the heart of Oliver, played by Tom Hank's son, but has problems getting him to fall for her airhead persona (which is really just the way she is).

Characters: The character, Shelly, is bubbly, sweet as pie and dumb as a box of rocks. She uses her sex appeal to her advantage, with her skimpy clothes and a raspy voice. Guys will love this movie, especially the scene were she drops her towel and you get to see her back-side.

The misfits at the sorority house are as annoying as nails on a chalk board. There is the lead girl who looks somewhat mentally challenged and acts the part too. There is a girl with piercings all over her face with horrible hair and dresses like a guy. There are a variety of other characters in the movie that fit the stereo types the movie tries to portray. The MOST annoying character that drove me crazy was the "Lumber Jack" girl who really made you wonder if she was even a female. It was hard for me to watch this person, with her deep-throated voice, her hunch-back walk/run and the actual words that came out of her mouth. The second most annoying would be Rumor Willis' character, who lived in a full body brace because she was afraid to take it off years ago when it was medically possible. She mimicks the Forest Gump scene where she begins running and her brace magically falls off and underneath she has beautiful long hair, a hot body and skimpy clothes. UGH!!!!

On a good note, if you like The Girls Next Door, you will enjoy seeing cameos of the Girls and Hef throughout the movie.

Over-all, this movie was lame. I did find myself envious of Anna Faris' body and it is giving me motivation (this week) to try to start working out and eating better. LOL

Baby Bump? Are You Kidding Me?

A recent picture of Nicole Kidman surfaced showing her in a form-fitting dress (see above). This woman is 41-years old and had a baby 4 months ago. She looks incredible!!!! Sadly, Hollywood sees her as having a "baby bump" and asked if she was expecting. Are you kidding me?

I am opening the floor for venting. Feel free to answer any of the questions below or give us your opinion:

1. Do you think she looks pregnant?

2. How do you feel about Hollywood & the media reporting about people's weight?

3. Do you think society puts too much pressure on women to maintain their figures?

4. Do you find yourself comparing your weight to other people?

5. Do you weigh yourself often? If so, how much?

6. Are you happy with your weight?

Spencer & His Sister

Okay, I LOVE The Hills, but Spencer and his sister are driving me CRAZY! Everytime they show them talking to each other, he is a jerk and she looks at him with her puppy dog eyes (usually filled with tears) and doesn't have anything to say. When she does, it is one or two words. Can they HAVE a typical conversation? It's always just about how she is ruining his life and stabbing him in the back because she wants her own friends. He should check in the mirror, cuz the last time he did that to a woman in his life, she left him.

Oh, by the way, does anyone else think Stephanie looks like Kate Hudson?
